What kind of at-home online work can I do with having a 20-year legal secretary background?

I have done much paralegal work as well. I could help people with reviewing different types of contracts/policies, trusts, etc. Also, I have a strong litigation background. Of course, not being an attorney, I would never give any legal advice. Perhaps I could somehow help them navigate the very first parts of a lawsuit when they first get sued. I need some clarity as to how I might translate my skills from working for others as an employee to working from home for myself. Please: "real" and serious (and hopefully sincere) answers only. No answers regarding becoming part of someone's "down-line" or up-line or any network marketing stuff. Absolutely No selling products/vitamins/nutritional stuff. If you are into that stuff – - Godspeed and good luck to you, but please bypass this question. I am in Northern California, 70 miles north of San Francisco.

Hi I am a mother of two beautiful children, and like you I was looking for a way to stay at home with my kids and earn an income at the same time. I was searching all over the internet for a legitimate work at home job. And of course i was scammed and lost some money but I didn’t give up and kept on looking for what to do online till i found a survey site and started taking surveys. but it wasn’t enough to be signed up to one or two sites so I was looking for more sites that pay cash and not survey sites that enter you in a sweepstakes or try to sell you something or only pay you to fill out some offers. I found a few sites that had big lists of survey sites but most of their links were outdated or duplicate or they were just sweepstakes or a site that wanted to sell me things and called it a survey. Finally I found this site www.cashsurveysonly.com it has a list of survey companies that are free to join and pay cash. Its great

The only thing that comes to mind is prepaid legal, an MLM that a friend of mine is doing because he is in a wheel chair and it works for him.

I don't do prepaid legal, but know of people who say its working to bring in the money.

Don't run from it because its MLM, its actually an ethical company that provides a legitamate service with benefits that people see clearly will help them.

your knowledge are abundance in legal so don't waste it. a lot of people on the net need some kind of advise and recommendation from people who knows this stuff and have heart to help people in needs so they would willing to trust. so why not put these knowledge into organized structured website that could get attention from search engines. so every time people looking for legal help in san fransisco thru the search engines such as google or yahoo or msn they will stumble into your website. when you have a lot of traffic you can monetize your website. i can say legal website is profitable but making website that works is really difficult without sound knowledge especially to someone who knows nothing about HTML or hosting or SEO. so if you thinking about putting your stuff into website without worrying about html then you can check out below resources. i recommend them because they allow people to try their services and can get money back guarantee so risk free. and they have proof that their method works. hope that helps a bit.

"I could help people with reviewing different types of contracts/policies, trusts, etc." and with over 20 years legal secretary experience, there is certainly demand for your service and to make money online.

First, you need to gather a list of potential clients — think about all those previous clients that your employer had during the 20 years of service — and let them know that you can review their legal documents for them at affordable prices that are better than most law firms.

Second, you need to setup a website that lists your credential information such as education, work experience, and others info that show you can get the job done as well as pricing info for your services, contact info, and payment info (probably use PayPal to take payments when you first started) or you can use websites such as http://www.mylvt.com ( http://www.mylvt.com/bid/index.php ) that offer individuals to list their skills / services online and let others to bid on their services — similar to Ebay (Ebay for products while myLVT for skills/services). Either way you need to advertise your website online and offline (ex: passing & posting flyers, phone books, etc.) Good luck! =)

Be very careful with: "I could help people with reviewing different types of contracts/policies, trusts, etc." That would be the unauthorized practice of law, and could get you into a lot of trouble.

What you CAN do, however, is register as a Legal Document Assistant and then provide document preparation and litigation support services to consumers who are representing themselves without an attorney. You cannot give legal advice or select forms, and the law is pretty specific about the contracts you must use and disclosures you must make. But with your background, you would certainly be an asset to the pro pers you assist.

Many LDAs (myself included) do a great deal of work for clients we NEVER EVEN MEET. People call me, I email them a contract, get the information, and email them their documents with instructions. You could do this from a home office, keeping your overhead low.
